Weekly Newsletter

Thursday, October 10th is a half-day for Batavia District 101. Elementary school children who have parents who work outside the home are in need of care. Through a collaboration of local churches, a half day program is held at Bethany Lutheran Church on those days. Our church has offered to staff the program on October 10th. If you can help, we need 6-8 adult helpers from 11:30 am – 4:30 pm to prep lunch, spend time with the students, play games, etc. Please fill out the Connection Card if or contact the church office if you can help!
Fireside Room Class –  An 8-week study will begin on Sunday, September 8th in our Fireside Room at 8:30 am. The class will resume the Immerse series, which focuses on Bible reading and group discussion. For these weeks, the class will be digging into the Old Testament wisdom writings in a study called “Poets.” These books of scripture reflect the down-to-earth faith of God’s people as they live out their covenant relationship with Him in worship and wise living. Library Class –  The adult Christian formation class that meets in the Library will begin Sunday, September 8th at 8:45 am. We will be using a video series called “Land Without Borders.” This study highlights the easily overlooked truths of the wilderness. The wilderness is mentioned nearly 500 times in the Bible. In the 7 sessions we will relate the wilderness of the Bible to our spiritual experiences.
On Thursday nights at 8:00 pm, a group of ladies from Batavia Covenant and surrounding neighborhoods are meeting at the Chin’s house. On Thursday, September 12th, they will start a new book, “The Road Back to You” by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile. Please read the first two chapters, pages 1-39, for the first meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Becky Chin (rchin405@hotmail.com).
The Women’s Bible study will begin on Monday, September 9th at 7:00 pm in the Library. Refreshments start at 6:30 pm. The study is “The Magnificent Story: Uncovering the Gospel of Beauty, Goodness and Truth” by James Bryan Smith.

Intergenerational Worship

On the first Sunday of every month, we worship intergenerationally. This means that: Covenant Kids (Kindergarten – 2nd grade and 3rd – 5th grade) remain in the sanctuary for the whole service. Preschoolers start in the sanctuary with their parents until invited to their classroom. They will rejoin us for communion. The Minis class for two-year-olds and Nursery care for birth to 24-months-old will be offered throughout the whole service. Please be sure that your child knows what to expect so they can enter into worship fully. Come and join us as we celebrate God’s gift of His Son Jesus, and the gift of each other!
